How to Filter RFQs by Shipping Terms (FOB Origin vs Destination) in Loocey

Overview

In this tutorial, you’ll learn how FOB shipping terms work, why they impact your bid pricing, and how to quickly filter RFQs based on whether the DLA or the supplier covers the shipping cost — FOB Origin or FOB Destination. We’ll walk through using the FOB Point column, reading clear tooltips, applying filters, and saving your search as a Saved View for future use.

Step by step

The walkthrough covered in the video, written out so you can follow along inside Loocey.

1. Given that some parts can be 100s of pounds in weight, the shipping charges can significantly affect the bid price.
2. Fortunately, it’s very easy in Loocey to not only see the shipping terms on RFQ, but also filter the list with the desired FOB point.
3. To start, go to the DLA RFQs page where you’ll see the list of open RFQs.
4. We already have a column called FOB Point, which will have the designated shipping term already listed, Origin and or destination.
5. If you’re new to DLA, sometimes these terms can be misleading, which is why we even have a tooltip explaining each type.
6. Let’s mouse over an Origin type, you can see that it clarifies in the tooltip that for Origin type RFQs, the DLA would be paying for the shipping.
7. And if we mouse over to a Destination option, we’ll see the tooltip specifying that the supplier or the contract holder would be paying for the shipping charges.
8. To filter RFQs based on the FOB Point, let’s open filters, add a new filter, select FOB Point as the column and select the desired type in the value selection.
9. Let’s select Origin for this example
10. Then hit Apply — this way, the system will show us the RFQs FOB Point set as Origin, in other words, showing us a list of RFQs where DLA would be paying for the shipping charges.
11. Of course, you can change the filter to fit your needs.
12. To save the filter, let’s click on Save As and name it FOB Origin and save.
13. This will save our search filters and create a new tab at the top. The saved searches, also called Saved Views are a great way to save your filters so when you come back tomorrow or in the future, all of your saved views will be easily accessible with all of your filters already saved.
